"Sarah, I adore the special things about my son that make him an Aspie.  Especially his intense interest in cool things, his creativity, and his ability to see things that most people can’t.  He is always creating really cool things out of ordinary objects that most people would throw away.  The biggest thing I struggle with is how other’s treat him. People tend to think he is just defiant.." My Response:
Children with Aspergers are very independent, and want to do things their own way.  This can be misunderstood by people who think that children should react to an adult's instructions without any questions.  Aspies need to know WHY the adult wants them to do something a certain way, so they ask questions before they comply, or sometimes they just meltdown.
